so many times I hear Sunni’s come forth and say that Umm Kulthum(as), daughter of Imam Ali(as) was married to Omar(la). Wrong!!! Let me set the record straight now, incase you were misinformed by your politician of a Sheikh. She was NOT married to him, here Husband was Aun bin Ja’far, who was the son of Imam Ali’s(as) brother. Mathematically it can be proven that she was not married to Omar. According to the politicians, Umm Kulthum and Omar ibn al-Khattab were married in the year 17 Hijri, when Umm Kulthum was 4 or 5 years old. That means she would have been born around the year 12 or 13 Hijri. So you mean Imam Ali(as) allowed his daughter to marry at 4 or 5 years old? Wow, anything to try to justify their idols. Anyways, now we expose these liars. If the Prophet Muhammad(saw) died in the year 11 Hijri, and Fatimah al-Zahra(as) died 6 months later, how in the world could Umm Kuthum(as) have been born after the death of her Mother(as). Even Sahih Bukhari confirms she died 6 months later. Sahih Bukhari:Volume:5 Book:59 Hadith:546, not to mention its also the hadith about Abu Bakr(la) stealing her land that Allah(swt) gave to her. Quran: Surah:17 verse:26

Next they mark her(as) death in 50 Hijir, but how is that possible when she was present in Karbala when Imam Hussein(as) was martyred in the year 61 Hijri. Yes, she remarried her cousin Abdullah ibn Jafar ibn Abu Talib, after the death of her sister Zeinab(as), who was married to him before her. But that’s it, that is the only two times she married so what the are these politicians talking about. So just who did Omar(la) marry……… Umm Kalthum bint Abu bakr. Let me explain so it all makes sense.

Omar did not just have one wife named umm Kulthum, he had a total of FIVE wives by that name.

Umm Kulthum bint Jarwila Khizima, Umm Kulthum bint Uqba, Umm Kulthum bint Rahab, Umm Kulthum bint Asim, and then finally Umm Kulthum bint Abu Bakr.

She was born after the death of her father in the year 13 hijri, her mother is Asma bint Umays. She was pregnant with her when Abu Bakr died. They also had one more child before her, guess who, Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr. A true companion of Imam Ali(as). So just how did she get the title bint Ali. If you clicked on her mothers name, you would have read a brief bio on her and put two and two together, but I will explain it anyway’s. Asma bint Umays Married Imam Ali(as) after the death of Abu bakr. Imam Ali(as) loved Muhammad ibn Abu bakr very much. So he married his mother shortly to take him in as his own. Son naturally Imam Ali(as) moved them into his home. Now if you do the math that was done earlier on this Umm Kulthum, it works out according to the Sunni hadith.

Also note: Omar did not go to Imam Ali(as) to ask for her hand but he sent word to Aisha, her older sister, and she accepted. So in conclusion Umm Kulthum(as) bint Imam Ali(as) did NOT marry Omar(la). Thank you.

Ps. For you hypocrites that challenge this I have saved your Sunni hadith that prove this truth. I did not incorporate a lot of these references you can have a little faith I could be wrong or lying, so then you would question it and then i would drop them on you.

As Imam Ali(as) would say “Peace be upon those who deserve it”

Counter Study on the above posts:

Both sides of the story should be looked at right? That is the only way a proper analysis can be done.

The are multiple people with the name “Umm Kulthum” in history including many other wives of Umer/Omar Khattab.

History is marked and time has lapsed – everything should be looked at objectively and with wisdom. The truth becomes more evident with a detailed study. At the end of the day you are going off by the words of various narrators 300 years after the Prophets time. Keep the Quran, the guidance of the Prophet (P.B.U.H), study of all the heavenly books, hadees and other stories from other prophets that came in time also need to be kept in mind when making decisions.

Allah will guide you. Allah is most merciful. No one is a Kafir. The RIGHT of final Judgement and Maghfirah lies only with Allah.

  11. MoMahdi Says:

LOL both sides should be looked at. That’s rich, the person above cited wikipedia on Umm Khalthum(as) looooollll. Only references to the marriage is Sunni. The Shia references are for who she married after her sister Zainab(as) died. Not referencing Umar at all. In fact take a look for yourself. I’m sorry but u are a person with a closed mind and heart. Next time come with an academic study not wikipedia. And once again the timing of your history is mathematically impossible. Just like how Aisha was 9 years old. Don’t play games with truth. For Allah(swt) will set the TRUTH FREE!!

Peace be upon those who deserve it.

  12. MUDASSIR ALI JOKHIO Says:

My dear Muslim brothers, have enough to learn from Quran, rather going in division :), all past events do not prove that you are true Muslim,
Being shia or suni doesn’t guaranty you will please ALLAH swt the supreme Power.. let’s just be Muslim and please ALLAH swt only… none of three caliphs are compare to Ali ra. he was our prophet’s bloodline and its more than enough for us to know.. Ali ra was allow to bring ALLAH msg to Abu Bakr ra … spiritual soul from prophet saw runs to his family in blood…
But is this true goal ALLAH swt has given us?

    LOVE your muslim brother

  13. Whitesimpleguy Says:

MUDASSIR ALI JOKHIO Love your respect man. Respect to you. We need people like you.

MoMahdi, great article. Idk if the reformist’s counter-references are of any significance but ill look after this comment. You’ve said they’re all sunni sources, but what if their sanad states they’re sahih hadiths? Im a shia, im just curious about even details. Personally, the math does more than justice about the claims, but I’d love a more elaborate reply to some of the apparently ‘convincing’ counter-references given to completely settle even the counter-arguments.
Thankyou, may God guide us all! Ameen!

  14. MoMahdi Says:

Salaam brother, simply speaking reformist posted nothing about shia hadith all sunni from Wikipedia. There are shia references that say this is authentic but have been refuted by some of our top Shia scholars as fabrications.

You should read “A Critical Assessment of Umm Kulthum’s Marriage to Umar” By: Sayyid Ali al-Husayni al-Milani.

    https://www.al-islam.org/critical-assessment-umm-kulthums-marriage-umar-sayyid-ali-al-husayni-al-milani

Great read. In section four it is labeled “Section 4: Umar’s Marriage to Umm Kulthum in Shiite Narrations”

    https://www.al-islam.org/critical-assessment-umm-kulthums-marriage-umar-sayyid-ali-al-husayni-al-milani/section-4-umars

I myself agree with Sheikh Mufid and Sayyid Murtadha that this all fabrication.

The book aims to give all points of view from sunni sources backed by some so called athenthic hadith from the Shia to show that even if this hadith is correct the “conclusion is that this incident cannot be used to cover up Umar‘s conduct towards the household of the Prophet (S) during Lady Zahra‘s lifetime. Likewise, they cannot use this story to argue that the Commander of the Faithful, Ali, peace be upon him, was in good and friendly terms with Umar.” In fact the Shia hadith that are considered authentic paint a picture of how Umar forced Imam Ali (as) to marry off his daughter to him with THREATS.

Shia Hadith: Al-Kafi, 5/346 tradition number 1 and 2. When Umar came to make the marriage proposal, the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (a.s.) told him: She is a young girl.

Thereupon, Umar met Abbas and told him: What is wrong with me? Do I have any defect?

Abbas said: Why are you saying that?

Umar said: ―I asked your nephew for his daughter‘s hand in marriage, but he has turned me down. I swear by Allah! I will fill the well of Zamzam with earth, I will destroy every honor that you have, and I will set up two witnesses to testify that he stole, that I may cut off his right hand.‘ Abbas thereupon came to Ali and informed him of what had transpired. He asked Ali to put the matter in his hands, and Ali complied.——- Lol Really??

Don’t forget the prophet Lut(as) offered his daughters to the disbelievers as a way that they may see the light of truth and it will be a Hujja (proof) on them on the day of judgement. Quran Surah:15 Verse:71– He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught).

I brother simply wrote the article from a mathematical point of view to show that it’s impossible. Just as Sheikh al Mufid and many other top scholars have stated this is a false claim. Either way in the end it proves nothing.

    Salaamun Alaykum
